WOOD-SCAPES TOY BLOCKS

For this project, I was tasked with creating packaging that could be re-used for a second purpose. I created Wood-Scapes. Wood-Scapes is a wooden block set with a lid that unfolds into a Play Mat. I Illustrated each block to look like different pieces of a house so that when built next to and on top of each other, kids can make houses in a neighborhood. Ideally the toy can grow with a child. A s a toddler, kiddos can learn fine motor skills. An older child while be able to flex creative and problem solving muscles as they try to create houses in new ways. The packaging was created so that the blocks can easily be stored after use to prevent clutter in the home.
PROCESS:
I created a lid held together with magnets that can unfold into a play mat for kids to stacks their blocks on top of. I created playful branding for the product. Wood-scapes not only symbolizes the wooden blocks being illustrated as parts of houses but also the idea that the box can be reused and helps eliminate waste of paper packaging. I chose a fun and playful color palette and created story book-like illustrations to go one each block.
